The Newly Appointed First Female Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Prof. Idia Ize-Iyamu, has promised to enhance the hospital's healthcare infrastructure and prioritize staff welfare.  Prof. Ize-Iyamu made this commitment when she assumed office on Monday surrounded by staff and students of the institution. Gov Okpebholo: Edo’s First Flyover Bridge to be Completed April 2026

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has announced that the State’s first flyover bridge will be completed by April next year, four months earlier than initially scheduled. The Governor made the disclosure during the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally in Esan North-East Local Government Area, ahead of the Edo Central Senatorial by-election slated for August 16. According to him, the completion time for the project has been reduced from one year and six months to one year and two months, a development he said reflects his administration’s commitment to fast-tracking infrastructure delivery. Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo said his administration will fix the failed roads in Edo Central, which he inherited from the previous administration of by Godwin Obaseki. The Governor who inspected several failed portions of roads across Edo Central Senatorial District at the weekend, revealed plans by his administration to fix the failed portions to boost economic activities and make life easy for people in the area. The Governor and his entourage inspected Onewa-Udomi-Ibhiolulu-Afada-Idumoza-Eko-Uwaya-Ewora roads. Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, at the weekend, said there will be a total collapse of the opposition in the State ahead of the 2027 general elections in the country.  He gave the prediction during the flag-off of the campaign for the August 16th Senatorial by-election in Edo Central Senatorial District in Uromi.  He urged the candidates of the opposition parties to decamp to the ruling party, All Progressive Congress (APC), and join him in developing the State. Edo State Governor, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo  has  undertaken a comprehensive inspection tour of critical infrastructure projects across Benin City, the State Capital, and declared them as tangible fruits of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda. This assurance was given by the Honorable Commissioner for Health, Dr Cyril Oshiomhole at a stakeholders meeting on Sustaining Family Planning Interventions. The meeting which held in Benin City was between the Edo State Government in partnership with The Challenge Initiative (TCI). PARENTS OF NEWBORN SOLICIT FOR FINANCIAL SUPPORT

Parents of a new born baby, Mr and Mrs Saviour Sunday, who hail from Oruk Anam LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA of AKWA IBOM State, has called on well meaning Nigerians for financial assistance to discharge their newborn baby boy from St. Philomena Hospital in Benin City.  The baby, born prematurely on May 29, has been receiving treatment at the hospital and is currently in a stable condition. However, the couple is struggling to pay the outstanding bill of N1.4 million. The baby was born at a midwife center and was quickly referred to Modic Children Specialist Hospital due to breathing difficulties.  After paying N18,000 for oxygen treatment, the couple was referred to Medvic Hospital, where they were asked to make an instant deposit  of N850,000. There after pay the sum N 118,000 per day till his discharge.
