FCT MINISTER URGE EDO COUNCIL CHAIRMEN TO REDUCE OKPEBHOLO'S WORKLOAD

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike, has charged the 18 local government councils chairmen in the state to do their bits so as to lessen the workload of Governor Monday Okpebholo.  He spoke on the occasion of the official handover of 54 construction equipment to the 18 local government councils in the state.  He asserted that he is not surprised by the level of achievements of the Governor within the short time he assumed office.  "Mr. Governor, I am not surprised because immediately you were elected, some people would have gone on holiday but you said no the work starts immediately. FATHER OF THREE MURDERED IN COLD BLOOD IN BENIN

The streets of Benin City, the capital of Edo State in the South South region of Nigeria, was on Friday morning filled with mourning as the news of the murder of Courage Igbineweka, a bus driver, who plies the Ring Road to Estate Gate route of the acclaimed ancient city. Information gathered by this publication is that the deceased who was also the Chairman of the Estate Gate bus park on Iriri Road was accosted by some four unidentified gunmen as early as 6.30 am somewhere in the park where he sat in readiness for the commencement of the day's business. The agents of death, who reportedly came in in an unmarked car without number plates, parked their vehicle in a corner a few meters to where Courage sat and two of them strolled to meet him while the other two stayed inside the vehicle watching from a distance. YARIS CAB DRIVERS PROTEST PAINTING OF VEHICLES TO EDO STATE COLOUR CODE

Yaris Cab Drivers in Edo State have protested against the compulsory painting of their vehicles to the state colour code .  The cab drivers who  tropped out in their numbers were at the Edo NUJ Secretariat on Thursday afternoon to protest the plan by state government to start enforcing the order that they paint their cabs in special colours. Led by their Chairman, Paul Ewoma , the aggrieved cab drivers said that they would rather prefer that they are issued codes instead of insisting that they paint their vehicles. According to them, the idea of making them to paint their vehicles would come with a whole lot of hindrance, inconvenience and other setbacks. Said Ewoma, "the painting of our cab is not the security, the code is the security. If you enter our vehicle you can snap the code, identify the driver and continue your journey. Edo State Governor Takes His Administration's Anti-cultism Campaign to Secondary Schools in Edo South

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo has taken his administration's Anti-cultism Campaign to Secondary Schools in Edo South Senatorial District. The campaign which included distribution of anti-cultism materials, sensitization talks also had direct interaction with the students. Addressing students at the Edo Boys High School and the Ihogbe College, Governor Okpebholo, who spoke through his Principal Security Officer (PSO) Austin Eigbiremolen, said his administration viewed secondary schools as a base point to curb cultism. He said Ihogbe College used to be notorious for cultism and cult activities. Governor Okpebholo reminded the students that his administration has zero tolerance for corruption which is  why  stringent laws against cultism was signed into law. NUJ commends 4 Brigade for boosting security in Edo State

The Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, has lauded the 4 Brigade Nigerian Army for its combat readiness and role in tackling insecurity across the state. The Chairman, Dr. Festus Alenkhe, gave the commendation when he led exco members of the Union on a courtesy visit to the Brigade Headquarters in Benin City on Tuesday. Dr. Alenkhe said the Union had painstakingly taken note of the achievements of the Brigade Commander since he assumed office. He attributed the relative peace currently enjoyed in Edo State to the constant combat preparedness of troops under the Brigade’s command. He also commended the Commander for his sustained efforts to restore peace and stability in the state, while stressing the importance of strengthening cooperation between the military and journalists to enhance effective media relations.
