 Edo Govt. Commence Installation of Internet Facility for Edo NUJ Secretariat  By Osariemen Idiaghe The Edo state government have commenced the process of installing a 24-hour internet facility at the Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Edo State Council  Benin city, with a visit by representatives of the Cyber  firm handling the installation.  The visit was for a feasibility study where the officials assessed the coordinates. The officials were received by the Chairman of the Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union Of Journalists,  Comrade Festus Alenkhe in company of the Secretary, Andy Egbon. It would be recalled that the state Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki had on Wednesday July 19, 2023 during a hang out with journalists at the Press Centre in Benin city promised to link the Edo NUJ Secretariat to the state government fibre optic.
 Group Harps on Need For Eradication of Harmful Practices Against Women By Osariemen Idiaghe The need for eradication of social/cultural harmful practices against women and the girl child in the society have been harped upon. A Group known as WomenAid Collective (WACOL) in collaboration with Fifty-fifty (50/50) Action Women took the stand at a Town Hall meeting held in Benin City.  The town hall meeting with the theme " To Promote and Protect women's Rights and end all forms of discrimination and violence against women" had in attendance various stakeholders from civil society organizations,  FIDA, the media,  Edo state ministry of Social Development and Gender Issues, the Judiciary, community leaders among others.
