Senator Neda Imasuen Flags Off Irohkin–Abudu Road Project, Pledges More Rural Development

It was jubilation in Orhionmwon Local Government Area on Monday as the Senator representing Edo South, Neda Imasuen, officially flagged off the construction of the two-kilometre Irohkin–Abudu road linking Evbomede 1 and 2 and Iguiya communities in Orhionmwon local government area of  Edo State. The project, expected to be completed by December 2025, is designed to ease transportation, enhance access to markets, and boost economic activities in the agrarian community.  Speaking at the ground-breaking, Senator Imasuen, who chairs the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions, said the road was a deliberate intervention to tackle rural neglect.  The road is expected to cover a stretch from Irokhin to Ogan communities which is over three kilometres. “The reason why we brought this project to the community is because of the apparent neglect of our rural areas. The Benin Monarch, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II, has honoured the Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, with Royal gifts, following the governor's recent birthday anniversary. Presenting the gifts to Governor Okpebholo on behalf of the First Class Monarch on Monday at the Government House in Benin, Princess (Mrs.) Ikuoyemwen Aimiuwu Ewuare, the oba's eldest daughter said the gift was meant to celebrate the governor. Princess Aimiuwu extended her father's (Oba Ewuare II) blessings and birthday wishes to the governor. "I am pleased to be here today on behalf of my father to present to you a wonderful birthday gift to celebrate your birthday. "Happy birthday again. Long life and prosperity to you", she said. Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has paid a condolence visit to the family of the late former Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Solomon Egiator Arase (Rtd) at his residence in Benin City.  The late IGP, who passed away recently at the age of 69, is being remembered not only for his distinguished service to Nigeria’s Police Force, but also for his critical role in Governor Okpebholo’s political journey. The  Governor who reflected  on their relationship  described the late Arase as a key figure in his journey to becoming Governor.  The Governor recalled emotionally, “When I first decided to pursue the governorship of Edo State, the very first person I went to see was Arase. Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has unveiled a comprehensive and transformative roadmap for education, reflecting the administration’s commitment to providing every child with access to quality, future-ready learning opportunities. This was made known in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor Mr Fred Itua in Benin City on Tuesday. The governor's education reforms which are being spearheaded by the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Paddy Iyamu said the reform agenda is a deliberate and holistic strategy designed to reposition education as the foundation of Edo’s long-term development.
