Federated chapel of Edo NUJ Elect New Exco

 By Osariemen Idiaghe.                  A new executive to pilot the affairs of the Federated chapel of the Edo State council of Nigeria Union of Journalists for the next three years have been elected.                                              The election which was conducted by the Treasurer of the council, Comrade Solomon Obozonya, was witnessed by the state council Secretary, Comrade Andy Egbon and had journalists from other chapels as observers                                     At the end of the election, which was adjudged free, fair and credible, Mercy Onyenweli emerged winner as chairman with 17 votes to defeat her co contestant, Timothy Omobude who got one vote but had earlier pulled out of the race.    ...

Edo Media Tour: youth leader appeals to Obaseki to reopen school

By Osariemen Idiaghe The youth leader of Abudu community, the administrative headquarters of Orhionmwon local government area, Mr Luke Asemota has appealed to Edo state governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki to reopen the renovated Edo state college of education, Abudu.                       The appeal was made while addressing journalists who were on a media tour of project executed by the Godwin Obaseki led administration. He said the call became necessary since the massive renovation work carried out by the state government had been completed and also to enable staff and students return back to academic activities in the institution.  Mr Luke Asemota however commended the governor for the construction work ongoing at the Abudu High Court. BREAKING: Court sentences Suspect To Death Over Jobseeker’s Murder

 By Osariemen Idiaghe There was confusion in Ibom State High Court as Uduak Akpan, the first accused in the murder of Akwa Ibom job seeker, Iniobong Umoren, was sentenced to death by hanging. Akpan attempted to escape shortly after the sentence was announced by the trial judge, Justice Bassey Nkanang, on Thursday. PUNCH correspondent reports that it took the intervention of the police to foil the attempted escape. The convict was sentenced to death by hanging and life imprisonment in the two charge of murder and rape preferred against him. However, the court discharged and acquitted his father, Frank Akpan and sister, Anwan Bassey (2nd and 3rd accused) who were standing trial for accessory after the fact to murder. Details later…
