MD Uselu Psychiatric Hospital Sues for Mental Health Advocacy

The Medical Director of the Federal Neuro Psychiatric Hospital Uselu, Dr Imafidon Osama Agbonile has charged media houses on the need for mental health advocacy reports as part of their social responsibility. He made the appeal when he received members of Federated chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Edo State Council at the institution in. Benin City. Dr Imafidon Agbonile who said advocacy stories are different from other news items reminded media outfits to use advocacy reports on mental health which would go a long way in sensitizing the public. The Medical Director therefore queried why some media houses bill the institution for Mental Health advocacy reports which according to him should be seen as part of media social responsibility to the people. He however commended Speed FM radio for hosting two advocacy programs free of charge. Dr Agbonile informed the members that the institution has a center for kids where those that come there receive succor. Speaking earlier, Chairman of Federated chapel, Mercy Onyenweli while explaining the essence of the visit thanked the MD for the reception and assured him of partnership between the Hospital and members of Federated chapel. Also speaking, a former Commissioner for Information and PRO of the hospital Mr Efe Stewart thanked those that have been there during the struggle and success story in the institution.
