The Edo State chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, has marked World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2026 by taking practical support and education directly to teenage girls at Benin Technical College. The Chairperson Comrade Habiba Sam, who led NAWOJ exco members visited the school to distribute free sanitary pads and hold an interactive session on proper menstrual hygiene. The outreach aligns with NAWOJ’s core mission: to support the girl child, amplify the voices of women, and protect vulnerable groups in society.  Addressing the students, Comrade Sam explained that the visit was aimed at equipping young girls with correct knowledge and confidence to manage their periods without shame. “Do not feel less of yourself when you are menstruating,” she said. “It is a normal and healthy part of growing up. Ahead of the 2027 general elections,  Dr. Richard Edosa and Mr. Edwin Edebiri have emerged the candidates of the All Progressives Congress to represent Oredo West and East Constituencies at the state House of Assembly.  The returning officer of the primary election in the constituencies, Hon. Paul Ohonbamu made the declaration at the Oredo party secretariat in Benin City. Ohonbamu, announcing the candidates for Oredo West and East in the primary election of the All Progressives Congress, APC admonished them to be magnanimous in victory, noting that the party was one big family. The All Progressives Congress in Edo South Senatorial District was thrown into uncertainty on Monday after two rival electoral committees announced conflicting results from the party’s primary election for the "Edo South Senatorial District seat*, leaving members and observers in limbo over who truly won the ticket.
