BEDC NEW MANAGEMENT ASSURES ELECTRICITY CONSUMERS OF ADEQUATE POWER SUPPLY AS 11AGREGATORS GETS ENGAGED
By Osariemen Idiaghe. The Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) has assured its customers in Edo, Delta, Ondo and Ekiti states of adequate power supply as the customers get prepared to pay electricity bills. The assurance was disclosed by the new MD/CEO of BEDC, Dr Henry Ajagbawa at an interactive session with payment partners in Benin city. Dr Henry Ajagbawa informed the stakeholders of BEDC recent engagement of 11 Agregators that have been assigned to come up with 10,000 agents to serve customers across the BEDC franchise states to pay for services provided and also be able to recover funds from electricity consumers. According to him, most consumers had often attributed inability to pay electricity bills to non agents in their areas which was as a result of BEDC having just 1 Aggregator with 1,650 billing and payment agents before now. " One of the pivot of BEDC is the ability to bill our customers after we have provided our services and our ability to collect our funds after we have billed our customers. ". "
Dr Henry further stressed on customers satisfaction as the basis of their engagement as he pointed out that with 11 aggregators, electricity consumers would be able to have payment agents within their proximity. He however said the company had concluded plans to reconnect communities heirterto disconnected from the national grid. "We have told ourselves that we will push electricity to the rural areas and in doing so, we are going to engage with them on how to pay through our agency expansion programme.". He however added that the company has also introduced revenue assurance platform that would monitor aggregators to ensure integrity of the process.
