MD/CEO of ECTS, Hauwa Dupe extol Governor  Obaseki Caring Spirit for Edo citizens... As Passengers appeal for extension of free transportation

The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Edo City Transport Services, Mrs. Hauwa Dupe Ohikhuai has described His Excellency Godwin Obaseki as a Governor who places the wellbeing of Edo People first in all his agenda.

Mrs. Hauwa stated this while speaking to  Journalists on the success recorded with Edo City free transport services as  directed by the State Governor, Godwin Obaseki to cushion the pains of Edo People due to the subsidy removal.

She attributed the success recorded so far to the Governor of Edo State for the provision of all necessary support and logistics for staff to implement the free transport and sustain the scheme since September 11, 2023.

She noted that the turn out of travelers have increased to 90% as people are seen traveling to their villages to farm, to check on their age parents which ordinarily would not have been possible due to increase transport fare by commercial drivers.

Speaking further, she admonished passengers who ply intercity routes to express gratitude to the Governor by behaving responsibly at the terminal. " The truth is that the money these passengers have saved this period,I believe should be deployed into other areas of their family life ,  so, I expect them to behave responsibly at the terminal. We usually issue numbers to them but most of them, out of impatience would always want to evade the process, sometimes, they harrass my staff  and beat them up in the process, this is wrong. I want them to comport themselves and know that as far as they are in the terminal, they will always travel".

Also speaking , the Ramat terminal supervisor, Mrs. Obasogie Bridget said the free transport services has been a huge success as aged people are seen traveling on a daily basis without paying.

She pointed out that commercial drivers collect 7,000 from Passengers plying  Benin to Akoko-Edo axis while Auchi, Esan central presently pays 5,000  to commercial drivers but with the introduction of Free Transport Services by the State Governor, passengers are filled with gratitude to Edo State Government.
