EDO STATE (SUBEB), DECRIES  INCESSANT ACT OF BURNING OF SCHOOL BUILDINGS AND PROPERTIES*

The Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has strongly frowned at the increasing cases of arson and vandalism on school buildings and properties across the state.

The condemnation was made by the (SUBEB) Chairman, Barrister Mrs Onomen Briggs.

She said these reprehensible acts does not only jeopardize the future of our children but also undermine the collective efforts of the government and stakeholders in providing quality education for all.

"Schools are critical institutions for learning and development, and any attack on them is an attack on the future of our state. We will not tolerate these acts of destruction, and we assure the public that the perpetrators of these crimes will be identified and brought to justice. The Edo State Government, through relevant security agencies, is intensifying efforts to track down those responsible and ensure that they face the full wrath of the law."

"We call on community leaders, parents, guardians, and all well-meaning citizens to take ownership of school facilities within their localities. Security and vigilance are collective responsibilities, and we urge communities to remain alert and report any suspicious activities around school premises to the appropriate authorities."

She therefore  implored traditional rulers, local government chairpersons, and youth groups to collaborate with security agencies to safeguard these educational facilities from further attacks.

She added that the government remains committed to providing a safe and conducive learning environment for all students in Edo State.

"Together, we must protect our schools and secure the  future of our children"
