Natasha Urged To leave The Senate President Alone
The Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Senator Natasha Akpoti- Uduaghan has been called upon to stop the allegations of sexual harassment against the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio.
The call was made by women of Edo State Chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) who protested to the premises of the Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ) Edo State Council in Benin City.
The protesters who were led by former chairman of Ikpoba-Okha local government council, Hon Itohan Osahon Edokpolor said Natasha's suspension was not as a result of sexual harassment but for disobeying the Senate rules.
"The Public should be well educated not to dabble into the affairs of the senate because in every organization, there are rules that guides them and they have the right to implement the rules which ever ways that is suitable.
"And our Women should equally comport themselves in a way and manner that will be respected by Men and shouldn't bring out their waywardness to the public and ridicule the dignity of other women.
Women in leadership are able to handle their affairs."
Mrs Itohan said since Natasha is not the only woman in the Senate, she should comport herself in a responsible way and apologize to the Senate so that her suspension will be reduced.
"This is the first time Natasha is going to the Senate, she should not use her attitude to stop other women's opportunity of coming to the Senate.
There are other women who are there and have been compoting themselves in a responsible way, even the first lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu was in the Senate and in the years she spent there was never issues of sexual harassment. Likewise other women who were in the senate. "
Responding, chairman of the union, Dr Festus Alenkhe advised the women to go about the protest peacefully so that hoodlums will not catch in on the opportunity to destroy public property and assured them that their message would be passed across to the appropriate quarters.
